Built on a soft Venerdi Sweet Potato Sourdough Bun, this burger stacks double beef smash patties with melted smoky cheddar, crispy bacon, creamy avocado, crunchy cheese corn chips, golden fried onions, crisp cos lettuce, mayo, and a generous spoonful of sweet & smoky bacon jam.
Ingredients (Serves 3)
- 3 Venerdi Sweet Potato Sourdough Buns
- 600g beef mince (divided into 6 x 100g balls)
- Salt and cracked black pepper
- 6 slices smoky cheddar cheese
- 6 rashers streaky bacon
- 1½ avocados, sliced
- 1½ cups deep-fried crispy onions
- 1½ cups cheese corn chips, lightly crushed
- 6 cos lettuce leaves
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise
- ¾ cup bacon jam
Method
- Cook the bacon
- Fry the bacon until crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
- Smash the patties
- Heat a cast-iron pan or flat-top grill until very hot.
- Place the beef balls onto the hot surface and smash thin with a burger press.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until deeply caramelised, then flip.
- Top each patty with smoky cheddar and cook for another minute until melted.
- Toast the buns
- Lightly butter and toast the Venerdi buns until golden.
- Build the burgers
- Spread mayo on the bottom bun.
- Add cos lettuce and avocado slices.
- Stack two cheesy smash patties.
- Top with crispy bacon, bacon jam, fried onions, and crushed cheese corn chips.
- Finish with the top bun.
- Serve
- Serve immediately while hot and crunchy.
